Levi’s Workshops

I didn’t know where to start since I was all over the world for the last 3-4 weeks or so… but I’ll start with the timely things so you can still check it out!

I visited Levi’s Workshops while I was in San Francisco — a community print shop! During July and August, they will be teaching classes on classic letterpress machinery, screenprinting designs, setting type etc. How awesome is this?! I was so excited to see the whole place really active and everyone just creating and printing.

Vandercook press in action.

“Keep Calm and Press On” — I would love to have this!

A couple table-top presses.

Stamps! There were so many cool ones, I played around a bit, too ;)

You can also make photocopies and make art here. Love the wall full of work.

and of course, the screen printing area. It was pretty busy looking so I couldn’t take pictures of the machine, but it was pretty big.

Walls with printed work. Love this “I’m Just Sayin’” series, so fun :)

and more posters on the wall.

If you are in San Francisco and if you haven’t already, please go check it out, just feeling the creative vibe is worth the visit!

The Brain

Hello! I am back from my trip to Washington D.C. — it was such a fun trip, it was so fun that it is so very hard today to even get up… but I do have a lot to do and so when I saw this new poster from Ork Poster “The Brain,” I immediately got drawn to it — I need the brain right now!

I’ve been a fan of Ork Poster, I have 3 of their city neighborhood posters, their typography design with the city and now with the anatomy series is always so great.

Head Hoods Poster

Spotted a poster for Head Hoods in Williamsburg. I’ve posted about their funny unique hoodies before so I knew what this is for, and I love their style, it’s cool and eye catching. Very simple, bold and funny.

T is for Tea Towel

Came across this cute tea towel with… letter Ts! A little typography in your kitchen anyone?

Love the hand-written Ts, it all looks a little different, and T is definitely for tea towel!

via spin spin handmade from Australia. They have more cute hand-made goods, too!

LOVE WINS

Love is definitely in the air these days, (yay, V-day is coming up!) and how cute is this “LOVE WINS” T-shirts? It’s designed and printed by elefint designs, I love the shape of the heart (very organic!) and how the words “LOVE WINS” are like whispering on the bottom. I love how typography design can also set a tone of the voice.

Thursday morning eye candy for everyone. I’ll come back with my 4th edition prints… yes, it’s here, I have to go take pictures now!

Head Hoods

I thought I saw this guy wearing this Mexican wrestler’s hoodie on the street the other day and thought it was so funny… and I found the store! Head Hoods! The hood part is hand-printed with a profile of the mask and so when you wear it, you look like… a Mexican wrestler!

They have many many more here.

It makes me laugh! I like the idea, though, it’s awesome.

I like that it’s all hand-printed. That makes it so special!

Silkscreen Reclamation Project Report

I posted about this cool poster for Silkscreen Reclamation Project before and I stopped by there before my letterpress class last week to see what’s up there – it was so cool! Basically, they all took this piece as a base art (one color word bubbles) and put each creativity on to it, and “reclaimed” it.

I enjoyed seeing the project very much. Here are some work from the exhibition:

The base art:

Space things always get me.

A bit too hard to read, but I like the decorative typography.

The color combination is cool, funky and fun.

Human vs. Animals? Love the black and white.

Different asterisk from each typeface. With a little cheat sheet.

Silkscreen Reclamation Project

I saw this poster at the Cooper Union. They are having a Silkscreen Reclamation Project show starting today. It sounds pretty cool and I love the poster. Very clean and simple, and the paper they used has a nice texture and caught my eye.

I’m not sure if this is open to public since it is at the school 2nd Floor Gallery, but I will check it out this week when I go to my class and report if I can.

Note: It is open to public!!!

This Poster

This poster I saw at the art school caught my eye.

Found out that it’s done by Tingle Fingers Design & Illustration – I knew it was hand printed.

The colors, the illustration and the hand-lettering fonts are so cool.

I am working at the office in SOHO this week…
