Ford + Forlano: Forth + Back

Velvet da Vinci in San Francisco is having an exhibition of jewelry, prints and paintings called “Ford + Forlano: Forth + Back” starting May 1st (oh my god, it’s tomorrow! May already?!) to May 31st. When I saw one of the images from their prints, I was so amazed and wanted to look more. I thought it was sensational! Interesting thing I found out is that the artisits, Steven Ford and David Forlano live in coast to coast, collaborating by sending unfinished work forth and back between them. So these prints (and all the other work, too, of course) traveled between Philadelphia and Santa Fe. You can read more from their website, but their work is truly a collaboration, that is how it takes their pieces to a next level. I wish I could go see this exhibition… if you are in SF, check it out and let me know how it is! Velvet da Vinci is an awesome gallery space, I miss going in there.

Patrick Thomas

Patrick Thomas‘s work will be featured in the latest exhibition at The New York Times Gallery 7 this Thursday – how powerful is his work? Very simple, iconic, conceptual and smart screen prints, they are often society and politics related but it communicates so well and makes you think.

New Print in Progress

The letterpress swap dealine is in a week and a half – and I finally received my plates from Boxcar Press!

I can’t wait to start printing! It’s going to be 4-5 colors… I never printed in that many colors together, I know it’s going to be a lot of work, but why not?! Right? I’ve been wanted to try overlap printing, I think it creates wonderful effect so you’ll see many overlappings in this print.

Attached here is my inspiration from Lizard Press – how beautiful is the overlapping part?

It’ll be available in my shop, too, so stay tuned… :)

Custom Wood Type Print

This print was for my husband Randy. He wanted this quote be printed for a while… at the same time, our 2nd year anniversary was coming up, it was the “cotton” year, and I’ve been working with cotton paper… so I immediately decided to print this as one of the anniversary gifts to him! A perfect 2nd year cotton gift :)

Wood types — can’t get enough!

My cheat sheet – it really helps when setting types.

see?

and printed…

It’s mounted, but haven’t been framed just yet… soon, soon.

He liked it and I think it’s helping him, too… :)
