National Stationery Show 2013 part 1

Last Sunday, I went to see the National Stationery Show at the Javits Center — it was amazing. I am so inspired and excited by all the creativity I saw!! It was really nice to see some of my favorite stationers and it was really awesome meeting new talented people, too. I snapped a few photos (not enough!), I will be posting them all here for the next few days…

The above card is from 12fifteen design + letterpress — Love the simple yet sweet card with a heart! <3 They were with the Ladies of Letterpress (can’t believe it was 2 years ago)featuring others like Ari Press, Black Heart Letterpress, Bowerbox Press, Creativity, Grey Moggie Press, Les Bois Letterpress, Noteworthy*Paper & Press, Pressbound, Steel Petal Press — Nice to meet some of you there! Couldn’t take much photos here as I was busy talking to people…

Next up is from Power & Light Press — their booth definitely caught my eye. I really like the “I bet you use Helvetica” card!

Ink Meets Paper — congratulations on their debut on NSS! It was so lovely to meet Allison and Daniel, their booth was filled with so many lovely letterpress cards. I love that their logo has a little heart like ours :)

Brainstorm — They had great posters! I first saw their work at the Renegade Craft Fair and have been a fan since.

I like the Atmosphere, Earth and Ocean series, but I really like the wild flower poster on the bottom… so lovely!

To be continued…

NSS 2011 Recipe Card Project

Sponsored by Legion Paper, organized by Flywheel Press, this recipe card project was absolutely my favorite at the National Stationery Show 2011!

Legion Paper is proud to announce its collaboration with 15 letterpress printers and designers on a project to promote the art of letterpress printing at the 2011 National Stationery Show from May 15-18, 2011.

The project consists of heirloom quality letterpress printed recipe cards, all printed on different papers sourced from around the world.  Legion Paper worked closely with each designer to hand-select the papers to perfectly complement the style and design of each card.

At Legion Paper booth, they gave out a recipe card box (how lovely! Letterpress-printed, of course.) and a card that indicated all the participants and their booth numbers to let your hunt begin.

Look at the awesome group of letterpress companies! (It was VERY nice meeting some of them.)

I couldn’t collect them all unfortunately… :( but look what I got!

Each recipe card says what kind of paper was used and company’s name.

This was such a great idea and now I have not only these beautiful recipe cards in a box, but also, all these paper samples that I can consider for my future projects!

Our Booth Giveaway at the NSS

One of the things I learned and enjoyed at the stationery show is a booth giveaway. Every booth/company had something for the audiences to take home with so they can remember the booth/company. Some are just catalogs and business cards (well, these are mandatory), but some had really creative fun giveaways. I couldn’t walk around much, but I’m sure there were tons more fresh ideas!

Our Ladies of Letterpress booth did an “Alter Ego ID card” giveaway (Maia from Dandy Lion Press came up with the idea and we all went with it. Elizabeth from Wildhorse Press designed the template, Kim from Paper Lovely designed the back of the card with all of our company names and Ladies of Letterpress logo). Each 11 of us came up with 2 alter egos, designed them and letterpress printed them so we had 22 different kinds of ID cards to choose from, we take picture of you, print it out, trim it out and ta-da — your alter ego card is ready. It was so fun to see people’s reactions and interact with people :) Who would your alter ego be?

and the papers we used were Holyoke Premium Cotton donated by Holyoke Fine Papers. Thank you!

Mine :)

We also hosted a breakfast one morning — it was fun to get together before the busy day and meet with other exhibitors, eat, drink and chat. The invitation was designed and letterpress printed by Nadia from Ink Petals.

And Kseniya from Thomas-Printers made these cute “Printer” badge and everyone wore it with our passes, we are all so proud! Thank you!
