Merry Christmas Tree Card
It’s getting more and more holiday-like each day in the city, on the street, and on the Internet… I can’t wait to pull out my Christmas trees and start decorating them with some new ornaments of the year… (ohh, what can they be?! That makes me excited, too!)
and speaking of Christmas tree… this Merry Christmas Tree // Blank Holiday Greeting Card by Cool Jane caught my eye. Isn’t it lovely? Simple and meaningful, I thought it was cute.
There are mini Christmas tree gift tags, too! :)

Platen Press Workshop 2
Continue from the Platen Press Workshop day 1 post… Here is my day 2!
We learned how to operate a floor-model, which I’d been so wanting to learn. It can be dangerous so I was a bit nervous, but you know, I got the hang of it real soon and I printed without losing any of my fingers :) It was so fun, too, I loved it!
For the second day project, I decided to hand typeset a gift tag by using ornaments — as soon as I saw these manicules (the fingers), I was inspired.
It took me for a while to do this! Such a tedious work. More respect for the real printers who always do this.
Adding spaces…
Lock it up on the chase…
and put the chase back into the press.
The Center has 2 floor model platen presses and I used this guy:
Adjusting, adjusting…
and print away!
I printed vertical ones and then, re-set the types and printed horizontal ones, too. These will be used for my clients and customers, I think! :)
It was a great workshop, thank you so much, Center for Book Arts!!
New: Letterpress Gift Tags
Good morning! Hello, another week! Hope you had a great weekend…
Over the weekend, I listed some more holiday stuff in my etsy shop — letterpress gift tags! They came out so cute, I hope they will add some specialness to your warm holiday thoughts… :)
For “Merry Christmas” and “Season’s Greetings” part, I used blind impression — meaning no ink, just the impression. The set up and everything is the same, just print without the ink:
Makes great deboss effect! I love it! (I forgot my camera at home this day, these were taken by my iPhone… sorry for a bit less quality photos…)
Next, I printed “To” and “From” with very light grey:
I used stripes of papers (Mohawk Superfine papers — very high quality papers) that were left over from another project. No waste on papers! Worked perfectly for this project.
And here are the final product….
