Custom Print: I Had A Dream

I printed another awesome custom prints for lovely Lindsay from Lindsay Wilson Photography the other day, I was about to share those pieces and realized that I hadn’t shared the previous custom print I made for her yet… so I wanted to share this first :)

She wanted a print with a part of this song by Priscilla AhnDREAM” — great song!

Type setting :: I didn’t have all the letters so I had to break up the lines and print couple lines first.

Use the same “I HAD A DREAM” setting,  move them, and print the first line:

and print the line in between separately…

and here is the final product! Came out so nice, I am very happy with the result and so is Lindsay :)

Custom Print: Here Take My Sweater

Lindsay from Lindsay Wilson Photography wanted a custom print that means a lot to her and her husband for their paper anniversary as a part of her gifts to him. ((I printed a special print for our second anniversary as a “cotton” gift — because I always work with cotton paper — it can go either way!!)) I always get so happy and honored to be able to create a special print that means so much to someone. This print was no exception. I had so much fun printing and I was so happy to print this for them!

Adjusting placement and impression with my printout — always helps…

I love the blind printed impression, so pretty always.

So turned out that I didn’t have enough letter “E” so decided to print without the first word… Typesetting, inking and…

takemysweater3

printing the three words first.

Now, typeset the word “HERE” to where it’s supposed to, take out the words that were printed and lock them with furniture.

Print on top of the first print…

and here is the final print!

Congratulation, Lindsay and her husband, for their 1st year anniversary!! I was so honored to create this, thank you so much!

Custom Print: Certain Thing…

I got to work on another great custom print for an etsy buyer, Emily : “The Certain Thing is that You Can Change Everything”

My cheat sheet. I can’t print without my printout… it just helps to guide, check spelling, see mirrored letters etc.

certainthing1

First type setting: some of my wood types don’t come in too many of them… so when I have to print certain letters many times in a phrase or sayings, I have to break it down so I can use the letter again. So here, I’m printing the 3 lines first. And sometimes, I have to flip letters upside down to print… there are sometimes lot of thinking involved to print, you have to be very flexible, I think.

Love the pink press… :)

The first 3 lines:

Now, setting types for the rest of the lines…

certainthing4

the letter “T” is used 6 times in this phrase, I still don’t have enough so here are 2 more lines, but not completed:

certainthing5

Print on top of the first round:

Setting the rest of the type:

the last T from “THAT”:

certainthing8

“THING” from “EVERYTHING”:

and finally printed!

Custom Print: BLISS

I had fun printing this custom print for Lindsey, “BLISS” – what a simple and happy word! It’s going to be her last name soon… even happier!! :) Congratulations, Lindsey! (soon-to-be-Mrs.Bliss!)

Setting up type, locking up on Vandecook Press:

Adjusting the placement. It’s in 8×10 inches so making sure the word prints in center.

Mixing color…. (oh, how I love this…) she requested a blissful blue :)
