Letterpress Class 9

Last week, I finally printed my business cards that was one of my main projects to do in this class and I am so excited that it came out so great!

I brought a few printouts of the business card so I can use it as a template. I’m doing 2 colors here so I’m going to start with the red.

Put double-sided tape on the polymer plate and…

place it on top of the printout to match exactly where it is.

Take the printout with the plate and run the press….

and the plate sticks exactly where you want to print! I love this trick!!

Printed on bunch of yes, chipboard. Run it twice top and bottom so I can have 8 cards on one sheet in 8.5×11.

OK, the second color, black next. Using double-sided tape, place the plate on the printout exactly where it should be.

and run the press to place the plate.

and print on the first sheet… here it is! I printed about 320 cards!

I trimmed them and here are the final result. I have 3 versions… I couldn’t decide which ones yet… but I love them so much – the impression is again so wonderful.

What do you think?!

Verlaine Cards

I was at Verlaine in Lower East Side for a happy hour with my friends last week and just when we were about to leave, we found their cutesy cards so took them all home! So eye catching and I love the vintage illustrations!

Back side is simple:

The Upper Rust

I meant to go to “Shady’s Waggery” to look for Maia’s new harness yesterday, but the store has turned into this awesome antique store called “The Upper Rust“! (I’m not sure what happened to the dog boutique…)

The selection in the store is so great, you don’t have to dig through everything to find the one, it’s all there! Price wasn’t too high, either, you would think it would be expensive, but it wasn’t.

Bowling pins! I like the wired basket, too.

I like these antique boxes, especially the typefaces:

Their business card — everything in the store was labeled with this same tag. I think it’s cool idea, it fits the store and it’s unique and memorable.

8.8.08

I guess I just missed the Olympic Opening Ceremony… I woke up relatively early (well, Maia wakes me up early), though.

This looks spectacular! I have to catch it on TV today for sure.

Anyway, besides the Olympic starting, my Friday morning inspiration comes from these unique business cards:

These are so great! You can see more here, here and here.
