Exhibition: Paul Sietsema http://heartfish.com/2010/03/10/exhibition-paul-sietsema/ http://heartfish.com/2010/03/10/exhibition-paul-sietsema/#comments Wed, 10 Mar 2010 14:00:27 +0000 Hijiri http://heartfish.com/?p=6230 A while ago, when I went to MoMA, I saw this great exhibition of Paul Sietsema. I just found some photos sitting on my desktop waiting to be posted so I am finally getting around to it… but I was blown away with his amazing work.

Always love typography on museum wall. I wanna paint my wall with types, too…

so when you look at this, you think he made this art by using the newspaper… but this newspaper, one letter by one letter, was drawn by Paul! I couldn’t believe it.

*Tried to take a close-up picture so you can see the letters are all drawn in, but it is a bit blurry… oops. but it is definitely done by hand. Great lettering.

I also love the neon pink paint can stain or some sort.

and yes, this is a drawing, too. Amazing.

More about the exhibition here.

oh and we tried to go into Tim Burton’s exhibition, but it was sold out for the day. Yes, they are limiting the numbers of people. Next time for sure. Saw this giant sculpture of his, though :)

and I loved the Alice in Wonderland! Have you seen it yet? :)

Anthropologie Best in Show http://heartfish.com/2010/03/08/anthropologie-best-in-show/ http://heartfish.com/2010/03/08/anthropologie-best-in-show/#comments Mon, 08 Mar 2010 15:08:50 +0000 Hijiri http://heartfish.com/?p=6322 Anthropologie in Rockefeller Center in NY has not only the coolest window display, but also the cutest gallery space inside. Last week, I stopped by there with my old friend who I hadn’t seen for 13 years (!) and we saw this great exhibition that is going on right now called “Best in Show” — I tool some photos and here they are! Enjoy!

Look at this awesome poodle made out of the lace paper. Love the texture and the vintage feel, so lovely.

and these guys were made out of all sorts of papers. How creative!

A patchwork dachshund :)

This fox was made out of shredded papers and plastic forks.

Cute creature… all cozy :)

There are more in the gallery, if you have a chance, please stop by and meet all the animals.

Let’s have another creative week, shall we?! :)

Le Telquel http://heartfish.com/2010/03/05/le-telquel/ http://heartfish.com/2010/03/05/le-telquel/#comments Fri, 05 Mar 2010 15:24:23 +0000 Hijiri http://heartfish.com/?p=6317 I have bought things just by its cover/jacket because it looks good, but never a wine… until we saw this “Le Telquel” wine. Yup, a dachshund wine! Love the hand-drawn, hand-lettering look, too, very cool.

Love that he/she is wagging his/her tail!

The top area has some kind of citrus drawings, too, that also adds a nice touch.

I hope we like the wine… Haven’t tried it yet. Maybe this weekend… :)

Happy Friday, everyone! Cheers!

New: Monogram Letterpress Notecards Tiffany BLUE/GREEN http://heartfish.com/2010/03/03/new-monogram-letterpress-notecards-tiffany-bluegreen/ http://heartfish.com/2010/03/03/new-monogram-letterpress-notecards-tiffany-bluegreen/#comments Wed, 03 Mar 2010 19:12:10 +0000 Hijiri http://heartfish.com/?p=6292 Just a quick announcement that I printed monogram letterpress notecards in Tiffany Blue/Green! (Oh, don’t you love that color?!)

Letter M:

And Letter T:

Speaking of Tiffany, I recently went there to clean my ring and necklaces, and oh my god, they came back as brand new jewelry! They weren’t kidding that it’d come back as good as new, I thought it was more! My ring was scratched so much, but all the scratches are gone now. Very impressed and happy me!

“E”njoy! http://heartfish.com/2010/03/03/enjoy/ http://heartfish.com/2010/03/03/enjoy/#comments Wed, 03 Mar 2010 14:00:10 +0000 Hijiri http://heartfish.com/?p=6289 Printed more “thank you” cards with wood types for my shop the other day and look what happened! “E” was backward :) It happens sometimes due to the mirrored wood type blocks, but thought it was fun to share it here. I flipped the “E” after this so just this only one.

In case you never seen this, this is something I print for my customers. I write a thank you note for each customer on the back of the card. You will receive one with your order*!

*not with poster orders, unfortunately… these cards are too stiff to include into a tube mailer :(

I have “Hello!” “Enjoy!” and “Thank U!” now. Let’s see which one you will receive…
