It’s a White World

All day yesterday, all day last night, it snowed here in NYC… so much! and it was beautiful. I kept looking out the window all day and being amazed by the white/silver world out there…

So I went out and took some photos. In a blizzard. yes. I couldn’t help it :)

The heart-shaped gate:

It’s a white world!

A snow bicycle:

I love the white trees… they are one of the most beautiful things that snow can create…

Even the bus schedule was white yesterday.

I think it was the most snow we’ve ever gotten since we moved here. Yes, still a lot out there, but it’s not the same… (getting not so pretty) I hope you can see some beauty in a white world I saw! Have a great day :)

Brooklyn Lyceum Holiday Craft Market

I went to Brooklyn Lyceum Holiday Craft Market last Sunday to support local handmade artists. (I went there last year, too.) It feels so great to be a supporter — I understand how much time, effort and love goes into one product so much and I’d love to support them as much as I can! (as I have been supported by many people… I am truly grateful. Thank you always so much!)

I saw some familiar products, new products… bought few things for my loved ones and… myself. :)

There were a lot more holiday craft shows in NYC, but I have been just way too swamped to go all of them, which I am pretty disappointed about… (booo) I hope everyone (both craft shop owners and shoppers) had a great time this holiday season wherever you are!

Shop local! Shop handmade! :)

Let it Snow

Good morning! Hope you all had a great weekend… can you believe Christmas is this Friday?! (I can’t!!) I hope you are almost ready for the holidays… :)

Over the weekend, it SNOWED here. so. much. I have to admit, it was beautiful. (now, not so much…)

I was out all day holiday shopping on Saturday (made it hard to shop in the snow) and when I came back to Park Slope, everything was covered in snow and it totally turned into a silver/white world!

Halloween 2009

Unlike last year, I got to enjoy a whole day and night of Halloween this year! As you’ve seen Maia’s witch costume, it was fun to walk around with her — she was the most popular dog on the street!

Went to 7th Avenue Halloween Parade in Park Slope for a start. It was the safest and the most wholesome Halloween parade I’ve ever been to :) Filled with lots of kids and parents, it was fun.

I met Hine who was in town from Canada! So nice to meet you!!

Family Halloween photo (I was a hippie… Randy was ??):

and then, I went to Manhattan with my friends — it was crazy just as I imagined.

In front of Webster Hall. No way we could have gotten in… It was raining so the picture came out moody and I like it.

hw7

How was your Halloween?!

Street Trash Can

On 8th Avenue, Park Slope Brooklyn, there is this cool designed trash can and bench/table — every time I walk by there, it catches my eye and makes me look…

Isn’t it cool? It’s like inside of a museum, but really, it’s just on a street :) I had to post about it…! Happy Wednesday morning, everyone.

To MJ From Brooklyn

Stopped by Michael Jackson Tribute event at Prospect Park yesterday.

It was filled with love and energy!!!

R.I.P MJ.

((I was so far away from the stage and this video might not show well, but they were all going crazy up there…))

*The event was hosted by Spike Lee with DJ Spinna.

Found Type: Park Slope

Yesterday, I was running around like a crazy woman trying to run all the errands, finish as many things as possible before I leave for 2 weddings/vacation on Friday… (yes, I’ll be on vacation! I sooo need it, I can’t wait!) and found cool type… I had to take photos… found some more… had to take photos… so here are my type finds from all over the Park Slope. (it is a huge area)

This big garbage bin had lots of cool type and texture…

Love this look.

psfound4

Vintage looking Pharmacy sign.

psfound5

Yes, it’s Record & Tape Center! aww so good.

psfound6

psfound7

This bar on 5th Avenue north Park Slope is covered entirely with chalkboard outside. Even their store sign is written in chalk! (and they still have chalkboards out, too…)

psfound8

Love the hand-lettering.

What a fun idea! Especially for a bar – unfortunatelly, I didn’t find any chalks to doodle around when you are hanging around outside… oh.. that might not work out too well… I don’t know what the drunken people would doodle… :)

Have a great day!!

Fall Colors

I have been surrounded by such a beautiful fall scenery around here in NY, all the leaves are turning yellow, red, orange… but everyday, the leaves are getting less and less (noo!) and so before it all goes away, I wanted to post some pretty fall pictures for my/your inspirations. The colors are just amazing, nature creates the best colors!

Everything has taken around my neighborhood, Park Slope Brooklyn.

I want to use some of these pictures for my project’s color pallete. It’ll be pretty.

Farewell, Summer!

This week has been a lot cooler than it had been and just wanted to write about my first summer in NYC. Yes, it was hot and humid, some days were just out of control and too gross, but other than that, I loved it and I enjoyed it!

One of my favorite things about NYC summer is this Mister Softee ice cream truck. It was everywhere in NYC, but the one came to my street every single night, stopped right across the street for a while and I heard that song (when you go to their homepage, you can hear it!) every night and thought it was the cutest thing ever. Reminded me of Japanese truck just like this that sold bread when I was little and they had a song, too.

I also saw a lot of fireflies! That was the coolest thing ever! I never seen that many before so I was so so amazed. I saw a lot of bugs that I didn’t wanna see, too, though…

and all the outdoor events… I wish I could’ve gone to more, though, it is impossible to catch up with everything here. Especially, summer time, a lot going on everywhere, all the time!
