Knitted Bicycle

I was walking around Lower East Side over the weekend and look what I found… A knitted bicycle! or a bicycle covered with bike sweater. It definitely caught my eye. How crazy! You never know what you’d find in the city… and I love it :)

(and it was 96 degrees out.)

Jazz Age Lawn Party on Governors Island

So I mentioned that I went to the Governors Island over the weekend, it was for the ’20s Lazz Age Lawn Party! It was so cute, everyone was dressed up as if it was in ’20s and danced to a live jazz music and had picnic in the lawn :) I had to share some photos… enjoy! ((By the way, it’s only 5 minute ferry ride from Brooklyn Pier 6! It was so so close, I was in shock!))

Going through the fort in Governors Island…

and there was another world…

The (always) lovely girl friends:

Very lively Jazz Band:

A cute couple :)

They were awesome!

and we ended the fun with a great view! (Click the image to see larger)

New York Post has some photos from this event, too, check them out!

Old Movie Posters at Brooklyn Heights Cinema

We went to Brooklyn Heights Cinema last Friday to watch the Exit Through the Gift Shop (one of the best documentary (?) films I’ve seen in a long time, definitely makes you think, too!) and as I thought, inside of the theater was so cute :) Lots of old movie posters and very cozy.

Hand-written / drawn chalk board menu:

Vinegar Hill

As I mentioned yesterday’s post, there was a cute local flea market in Vinegar Hill so we took a walk around and looked around… and look what I found!

Old tools for sale:

Dolls on the window:

Display window with funny signs:

Blue door with heart-shape key hole and handle area:

Vinegar Hill is such a cute neighborhood, we love it around here. We had the best meal in a long time last night with our friends at Vinegar Hill House, too… along with a Christina Courtin concert at Barge Music. Great time!

LOVE LA

When we were walking around Brooklyn Heights, I found Love Lane off of Henry Street. (Usually, Lane is “Ln”, but here, it’s “LA”…) and I had to stop and take pictures. How sweet would that be to live on the Love Lane? :)

Sending you my love from Brooklyn NY… Especially, to my best friend Naoko and her husband Shiko — they just had a baby!!! Congratulations!!! MUCH LOVE <3<3<3

p.s I also found “Pineapple Street” — how cute!

Heart Street

We have been couch hunting for a while… still no luck, though, I found the cutest street in SoHo yesterday after stopping by Room and Board… a Heart Street! (on Broadway and Prince to be exact — I think it’s for Victoria’s Secret, but didn’t say…)

You might know already that I am obsessed with heart-shape… so this street stopped me immediately! <3

It was then navigating you to the subway entrance…

I hope this makes you smile for the rainy grey day (at least in NY)… :)

Off to letterpress studio today… see you all tomorrow!

Water Taxi Ride

Last Friday, we took a water taxi to Randall’s Island Park. I always LOVE the ride as NYC has lots of cool bridges and buildings, it is absolutely amazing and amusing.

I thought I should take you to the virtual water taxi ride today…. enjoy!

We are leaving from Pier 16 at South St. Seaport.

This is the water taxi.

We are off to the ride! Going under the Brooklyn Bridge…

Brooklyn Bridge is definitely one of my favorite bridges in the world. It is so special…

Downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge… I would never be bored with the view.

and look, it is our new building in DUMBO (see the red circle)! The big move is this Friday… Can’t wait!

We passed Manhattan Bridge now (you see 2 bridges?) and going towards mid-town…

Williamsburg Bridge.

Found type: Domino Sugar

The Williamsburg Bridge from the other side.

and the stunning Chrysler Building.

Found type: Long Island

Pepsi:Cola signage!

Queensboro Bridge. Love the colors of the bridge, really pretty.

((I had to go inside of the water taxi here, it was getting a bit cold))

and… before you know it, we are here at the Randall’s Island Park… and you know what you see? Yes, Cirque du Soleil tent! We are here to see OVO :)

((OVO was so great! Enjoyed every minuite of it!!))

OK, that’s it. How was your ride? Good, I hope! :) If you have a chance, I highly recommend doing some kind of water taxi/boats in NYC, it really is great. (oh, in a good weather, of course)

I LEGO N.Y.

I’m sure you’ve seen this around… I LEGO N.Y. by Christoph Niemann. When I fist saw it on NY Times blog (via swissmiss), I thought it was so simple, fun and creative! So when the book came out, I had to get it — it became one of my favorite café books around :)

If you are in NY area, the PowerHouse Arena (I loooooove this book store!!) is having a NYC launch party tomorrow, Saturday, April 17th at 3-4pm. I might just stop by. Sounds fun!

“Attendees are encouraged to bring their own NYC LEGO® formations! The creators of the 3 best NYC themed LEGO® formations will win a FREE copy of the book!” — I wish I had some legos handy… Do you?! What would you make?

Here are a couple shots from my book:

Happy Friday, everyone!

Sakura

Have you been enjoying the Spring?! :) LOVE my walk with Maia everyday, I am finding lots of changes in nature and flowers blooming everywhere. It is always so inspiring.

These photos of Sakura are from Central Park. These are the kinds that I grew up with in Japan, but I see few different kinds of cherry blossoms here in NY… they are all so pretty, I wish it never goes away!

It has been such a busy week for me, I have to run around all day today so I am leaving you with these pretty photos and smiles :) Happy Friday, everyone! See you on Monday.
