Happy Birthday, Maia!

Today is Maia’s 1st birthday! I am so excited for her and I am so proud of her. Just like every mom!

She has grown so much! She was 4-5 lb when she came, but now she weighs 11.5 lb.

I crocheted another black vest (well, the yarn run out so it became “vest” but I like it this way) for her — I think she looks so high fashion!

We walked around the neighborhood:

There was a reason why I crocheted her a black vest…. Here are some black pipe cleaner…

So she can be a spider for her Halloween party! (Her day care had a Halloween party today.)

It’s her 1st Halloween party, her 1st birthday, she had a big day today!

You can see Maia’s picture diary from my Flickr account here.

Here are some videos from today… I hope this makes you smile!

DIY :: Maia’s Sweater

I actually crocheted this sweater last winter when Maia was 4-5 months old and it was really big on her (I was a little disappointed), so I put it away all winter and didn’t see it since. This weekend, I was pulling Maia’s winter clothes as I was pulling mine out and I saw this sweater, put it on her, and found out that it fits her perfectly now! She has grown so much! (She is going to be 1 year old in a week, so exciting.) Now I’m glad that I made it in this size. She likes wearing clothes, too!

It looks too bright of a purple when I use flash… but you can see it better here.

October Dachshund Parade

Monday can be hectic — hope these pictures will make you smile!

Last Saturday was a Dachshund parade (eveyone calls it a “parade” but it’s really a meet-up) at Washington Square Park and of course we went there with our Maia (almost 1 year old!) and our neighbor dachschunds, Hime and Koro and their owners. Since it’s October, there are lots of costumed ones, it was so funny!

So many people at the park. They all had dachshunds so you can imagine how many dachshunds were here…

This is Maia: she was wearing a pink bandana (so you know which is Maia from here on):

Hime:

Maia and Koro — it was so fun to walk around Park Slope together and take subway together with them!

A ladybug (lol):

A handsome cowboy:

More cowboys and a king(?):

A lobster — I love it:

A blondie (she was so funny):

A dachshund trail:

Brown red ones:

Wired Hair Dachshunds:

Maia also said hi to eveyone in the park:

You can see our first Dachshund parade in April from here. It happens twice a year!

Prospect Park

Saturday was our big park day! I love the fact that Prospect Park is a few blocks away from our apartment and we’ve heard that before 9am and after 9pm, you can have your dogs off-leash in certain areas and so many dogs come and play on the weekends – that was Maia’s debut! I must admit that Maia is our big motivations because we never woke up early and go to park before or never even went to park to do activities before!

In the morning. It was so beautiful out! (Click to see a larger image)

We saw Hime – 8 years old dachshund in our neighborhood and she looks like Maia!

Hime and her Mom and Maia (she is jumping on her):

Here we go – so many dogs running around and playing!

This is Long Meadow. There is a dog beach here, too.

And then…. at night, we met up with our friends with their dog at Nethermead. We never been this area so it was cool to explore more in the park.

I like the path:

Wait for me-

Here we are – it was getting so dark that I couldn’t take more pictures from here on, but we had a great time! Maia had the best time ever!
