Hiroshima

I am back in NYC now, and oh my god, it’s HOT! It says it’d be 99 degrees! June in Japan is a rainy season and SF was always cold in June and so this is like the hottest June I’ve ever spent.. and we have no air conditioner yet! aww I’ve been sweating like crazy ever since I landed…

Anyways. I wanted to keep posting all my Japanese trip photos and here are some from Hiroshima day trip. I got to visit Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park one day and saw Atomic Bomb Dome and surroundings.

I’ve been there before when I was young, but it always makes me think and there are lots of world peace wishes here, you can feel it.

Again, I took Shinkansen from Okayama towards Kyushu.

Coming Back to US

After spending 3 weeks here in Japan with my family and friends, the time has come, I’m coming back to the States. I’ll be doing Monday the June 9th twice. (It’s always so weird with the time difference – I leave Japan on Monday afternoon and I’ll arrive NY on Monday afternoon!)

It went by too fast, though… I had such a blast! I’ll keep posting about my Japanese trip all week next week and fighting with jet lag, I’m sure… See you soon!

Udon

Each prefecture in Japan has its own specialty products and/or signature agricultural products and my hometown, Kagawa prefecture is very famous for udon called Sanuki Udon. It is so so good that I always try eating it as many times as I can and bringing udon back as much as possible so I can still eat it in the States. People visit Kagawa from all over the place for udon, and there are more than 10,000 udon shops here. My friends and I went for udon tour one day… only went to 2 shops, but it was soo good!

#1 “Komugi-ya”

Can’t get enough! There’s a movie called “Udon” – I have to watch it.

Mikoshi

I saw this Mikoshi at Himeji station. Mikoshi is a portable Shinto shrine. People carry this around (drunk) when it is Matsuri/festival time in Japan. It’s so gorgeous I had to post it!
