Absolut Brooklyn

When I wait for subways lately, this billboard always makes me look: Limited edition Absolut Brooklyn — A Spike Lee Collaboration. The bottle is in the middle of the brownstones, illustrated inside (that’s the bottle design!) and

on the stairs, it says:

“Brooklyn-Goodlookin’ Bucktown Breuckelen Brooklyn in da house”

I need to buy a bottle to keep! Oh and perfect gift from Brooklyn, also ;)

Latest Commercials That Caught My Attention

Have you been watching the Vancouver Winter Olympics? I have a little, here and there… and I saw this Nike commercial while I was watching the Olympics and caught my attention — very beautifully done.

I didn’t talk about Super Bowl commercials this year now I think about it, but I was working while I was watching the game commercial so I couldn’t pay attention much this year to be honest. The only one I remember was this Google commercial. Simple, straightforward and still told the story (very cute one). Out of all the over-the-top Super Bowl commercials, this one was the most memorable one for me.

Hope you had a lovely (long) weekend (if you are in US)!!

I Heart…

This week, I saw some more “I Heart” things…

ihearttv

(via Bloesem)

ihearttypography1

ihearttypography2

(via swiss miss — available here.)

And did you know this is all coming from an advertising campaign for New York City?! (I tried to look for the original commercial on YouTube, but I couldn’t find the right one…) I didn’t know that until I saw the movie Art & Copy — pretty amazing to think about how ad campaign effects soo many things even 30-40 years later!

Happy Friday, everyone!!

Amazon Kindle Commercial

I thought it was so very cute. Stop motion video always gets me, the song is cute, too.

Well done!

NY Lottery Sweet Commercial

Every time I watch these commercials on TV, I just can’t help myself going “ohhhhhhhhhhhhh” (and then, “what? A lottery commercial?!” — being in an advertising industry for a while, that is a good thing)

Have a sweet morning and a sweet day, everyone!

Converse One Outdoor Ads

Have you seen these Converse One outdoor advertisements? Well, my initial reaction when I saw was “how bizarre!” but it definitely caught my eye and when I looked around, everyone on the street, especially people with kids were talking about this ads! That’s a good sign, getting all the attentions…

converse1

How funny are these? See the ears (horns?) — Converse.

converse2

It just had these strong visuals and a line “customize at Converse One” and the website address… so I went to the website and there… that was it. I spent so much time trying to customize my own chuck taylor! It is fun and what a great gift that makes?! Your one and only original converse sneakers for yourself or for your loved one :)

converse3

The website is so well designed and easy to use. Give it a try right here!

Art & Copy

Last night, I went to see this film about advertising called “Art & Copy” — as I was majoring advertising design in my art school and worked at an advertising agency for 6-7 years, this was pretty exciting to me and it was a true celebration of the creativity behind the big ad campaigns.

and YES! Creativity can solve anything!!! (I love that. I might have to make a print for that…)

All the casts are my heros so it was so awesome to see them talk about what they think. They have more screenings coming up, if it’s in your city, please go check it out! If you think advertising is an eye sore, this film might change your mind… :)

Happy Friday!! (I had a late start this morning as I had a doctor’s appointment…)

For Humans Only

When I was in LA, I saw this outdoor / guerrilla advertising for District 9 (the movie) everywhere. Bus stations, street benches, phone booth… I didn’t know what it was at first, but it caught my eye, I had to take a closer look… it was like the whole LA was turned into a Sci-Fi movie or something (well, that’s the intention) — I thought it was a fun and clever way to do the advertising for the movie. I love when it’s unexpected. When I looked at their site and preview, I saw the same graphics everywhere so it’ll make more sense once you watch the movie, I’m sure…

Huge Blackboard

There is this huge open space for outdoor advertising in one of the buildings in SoHo and what was up last weekend was this huge blackboard and (looks very) random lines… it caught my eye, made me wonder what this is…?

outdoor1

If this changes everyday or next week and becomes something towards some ohhhh or ahhhh things, that would be super cool…

outdoor2

If this was a real blackboard/chalkboard, that would be awesome, too…

(Speaking of which, I’d love to have a chalkboard wall in my house someday.)
