Autumn Color Week: Orange

Yesterday was another great color inspired day (it was green) over at Autumn Color week flickr pool and poppytalk…. today is ORANGE.

I went to my letterpress studio yesterday and snapped a few shots along the way… so here they are. Brooklyn is huge and each area has different vibe just like Manhattan (I love that.) — I didn’t see much nature in the neighborhood, but hey, you can get inspired by these things on the street, too…

(do you see a little heart?)

autumnorange2

Lots of brick buildings… I like brick buildings… (I actually take photos of different brick walls and use it for textures sometimes.)

autumnorange3

and… something orange that I see… every. day. all. day….

Maia’s basketball! She loves that ball, she plays with it all day long, she brings it to the bed and sleep with it every night. ((Repeat))

We are actually inspired by this basketball of hers and making something for her for Halloween… Will share that here for sure! :)

Yes, orange is a Halloween color… have you guys been thinking about it yet?!

Autumn Color Week: Green

I must say this Autumn Color Week has been so fun and inspirational just after 1 day! I saw so many yellow inspirations yesterday and some of my images were picked at poppytalk, too! (Thank you!!) If you haven’t already, add your color inspired images to the flickr pool (or simply cruise over there and look around!) — today is GREEN.

Here are some images I took outside of my house, again, while walking with Maia. There’s no excuse for me; no matter how tired/sick I am, how horrible the weather is, I have to take Maia out everyday, two to three times a day (unless Randy is home), but I find most interesting and beautiful things during our walk together. I feel very blessed…

Miscanthus sinensis:

From the street in Park Slope, Brooklyn. You can see the color changing… but mostly green still as of yesterday.

A ginkgo leave I found on the street.

And here is from my kitchen… I crocheted the new pot holder for this project.

Happy Green day!

Autumn Color Week: Yellow

Jan and Earl from Poppytalk were asking and see if anyone was interested in joining them for an Autumn Color Week and so Heart Fish is participating this week, too! Rule is simple: Blog or flickr these colors each day — Monday::Yellow, Tuesday::Green, Wednesday::Orange, Thursday::Brown, Friday::Red! Come see my autumn color inspirations everyday this week here. I’d like to keep them to my original photos, but you can see everyone else’s color inspiration from the Autumn Colour Week Flickr Pool.

To start the Monday::Yellow, here are a couple shots I took in my neighborhood during a walk with Maia. The leaves are turning colors and falling, the air is cool and crisp… The Autumn moment right there. The best thing about having the four season is to actually see and feel the season changing. I think it is one of the most beautiful things that our planet earth brings to us.

autumnyellow2

Maia loves it, too. She loves the smell of the leaves…

Hope you had a great weekend. I hope you are off to a good start!

The Literary City

I have been missing San Francisco a lot lately (it’s been almost a year since my last visit… that is too long :( ) and when I saw this poster (?) over at we love typography, I knew that it was San Francisco even from a tiny thumbnail image and as soon as I clicked to see the larger view, I was in love. Entitled “The Literary City,” the whole city is covered with handwritten quotes about San Francisco from all sort of literature. And where each quote is placed makes perfect sense geographically, too!!

But I could find out where this is from or anything… I hope it is available for sale…?

If anyone has any information about this, please let me know. The link that they gave at we love typography was this link. I tried to search from it, but no luck… Thank you in advance!

*UPDATE: Thanks to Angela, here is the original article and the artist’s website — it’s not for sale, though! bummer…

Wishing you all a happy Friday… xo

Enjoy & Smile

It was time to restock my chipboard “thank you” cards for my shop… (You can see my Hello! cards and Thanks! cards by clicking the links) I actually printed “Enjoy” cards before, but never had a chance to share on Heart Fish and I printed some more… and this time, “Smile” cards, too :) When you order something from my shop, you will get one! With my hand-written thank you notes!

Type setting — printing 2 cards at the same time. I was working with some metallic ink (ohh, I can’t wait to show you guys what I was working on) and I loved the metallic blue ink so much that I decided to print my cards with it, too.

Everything looks so lovely on chipboards, don’t you think?

Converse One Outdoor Ads

Have you seen these Converse One outdoor advertisements? Well, my initial reaction when I saw was “how bizarre!” but it definitely caught my eye and when I looked around, everyone on the street, especially people with kids were talking about this ads! That’s a good sign, getting all the attentions…

converse1

How funny are these? See the ears (horns?) — Converse.

converse2

It just had these strong visuals and a line “customize at Converse One” and the website address… so I went to the website and there… that was it. I spent so much time trying to customize my own chuck taylor! It is fun and what a great gift that makes?! Your one and only original converse sneakers for yourself or for your loved one :)

converse3

The website is so well designed and easy to use. Give it a try right here!
