A, C and G

Good morning :) Hope you all had a nice weekend and are ready for a new week! It’s going to be September… so fast… I didn’t like the heat and bugs bites (oh, I hated them!!!), but when I think about the summer is ending, I miss it already…

Anyways. I printed 3 more alphabet greeting cards and they are available now at my shop :) Here are some behind-the-scene photos as usual!

Mixing ink… I always think about if the word has a color, what color would it be before printing. Mixing pretty sky blue for…

ac1

C / Congratulations! I think sky blue is nice, fresh, happy and very celebratory for any occasion. Printing wood type “C” and the plate at the same time.

ac2

1st color printed.

ac3

Moving on to next… mixing pretty green…

ac4

for G / Get Well — this wood type “G” was a special one, has lots of textures! Hoping this lively green makes your loved ones feel better…

ac5

1st color done.

ac6

and moving on to the 3rd one… mixing nice orange…

ac7

for A / Anniversary :) I thought of red at first for the love related anniversaries, but rethought and decided to go with orange — can be sent for a shop anniversary, a blog anniversary, a work anniversary… any kind of anniversaries!

Setting wood type and the polymer plate, ready to print.

ac8

I like the orange, the 1st color printed.

ac9

2nd day — the brown color day!

Setting up the polymer plates. The border and “is for”.

ac11

Adjustments, adjustments, adjustments…

ac10

ac13

ac14

until it’s in exact spot! :) Print away…

ac12

and here are the finished products :)

C is for Congratulations!:

congrats1

congrats3

G is for Get Well:

getwell1

You can see the wood type “G” texture more here.

getwell4

A is for Anniversary:

anniversary1

This letter “A” has a very nice texture, too!

anniversary4

Hope you enjoy.

More cards to come soon! :)

Art & Copy

Last night, I went to see this film about advertising called “Art & Copy” — as I was majoring advertising design in my art school and worked at an advertising agency for 6-7 years, this was pretty exciting to me and it was a true celebration of the creativity behind the big ad campaigns.

and YES! Creativity can solve anything!!! (I love that. I might have to make a print for that…)

All the casts are my heros so it was so awesome to see them talk about what they think. They have more screenings coming up, if it’s in your city, please go check it out! If you think advertising is an eye sore, this film might change your mind… :)

Happy Friday!! (I had a late start this morning as I had a doctor’s appointment…)

Phaeton

I am loving this font called Phaeton from Veer. You can design something classic and elegant with just this one font — would be so great for wedding invitations or restaurant menus etc.

Phaeton1

Look at these little cute icons of people! Yes, this is included in the font. Fun!

Phaeton3

A little tryout… :)

AREAWARE

Last week, I went to an opening party for AREAWARE — design to go ‘temporary’ design shop (they are open until September 26th at the Port Authority Bus Terminal if you are in NYC area.) and I really enjoyed looking around the shop, listening to good music, and chatting with my friends! Fun times, fun times…

I snapped a few pictures of things that caught my eye for inspirations to share here at Heart Fish…

Colorful letterpressed journals and travel journals:

areaware1

areaware2

Cool water bottles:

areaware3

areaware4

Eye catchy city guides from Wallpaper*:

areaware5

and I couldn’t help it — the cute dachshund pillow was staring at me and saying hi!! aww so cute. Maia would like that :)

areaware6

Comes in key chain, too. (couldn’t find dachshund one, though)

areaware7

I “heart (pump?)” NY tee.

areaware8

Red Dot Tenugui — This is typical Japanese traditional patterns, but it looks so fresh and cute with all the modern designed things around it.

areaware9

Black and white office supply inspired paper weight, pen holder, card holder:

areaware10

Gorgeous piggy banks!

areaware11

These are so cool. Office supplies designed and made out of wood.

areaware12

A wooden compass!

areaware13

Wooden radios!!

areaware14

areaware15

There are a lot more cool and fun products, you can look around their online shop and see more :)

Hope you had a great weekend, I am printing a big letterpress job all day today, wish me luck!!

Six by Six Gallery

Attention all artists and creators! The founders of Charmingwall (oh how I love their website…) will open a new original-art gallery on October 1st… with your art!! (If you participate, that is)

“Each month, Six by Six Gallery will exhibit hundreds of original works of art – every single one of them on a six-inch square canvas. This small and consistent size allows the gallery to show the works of a large and diverse group of artists each and every month. It also allows collectors the opportunity to curate their own selection of artwork at an identical size that will look great when hung together.”

6x6_press_kit-1

To participate, all you have to do is to purchase an Artist Submission Package at www.6×6gallery.com, create your original art on the canvas and submit!

6x6_press_kit-3

I think this is a great opportunity for anyone, everyone who has a passion and vision (yes, ANYONE can do it), I am thinking of participating so if you are interested, please let me know!

Happy Friday!!
