In my neighborhood, Park Slope Brooklyn, 491 Six Wine Bar is coming Fall 2009. How did I find out? I walked by their window, the display caught my eye… and that’s how I found out. I thought it was very interesting: lots of artsy buildings and a typewriter. A message typed on…

Can you read what it says? The buildings are a part of an installation called “The City.”

Love the corks on the ground. Subtle touch.
I signed up to be invited for an opening, very looking forward to its door opens…
Friday inspirations :)

USPS raised the postage price and shipping price this month here in the US, I was not so happy until I see the new stamps in person! I think they are the cutest stamps I’ve ever used, it is called “love” and the design of king and queen, the pattern, the hearts, the flow, the lettering of “love” are all so great, I can stare at the details all day…

oh and I of course love the new Simpson stamps, too :)

I had fun printing this custom print for Lindsey, “BLISS” – what a simple and happy word! It’s going to be her last name soon… even happier!! :) Congratulations, Lindsey! (soon-to-be-Mrs.Bliss!)
Setting up type, locking up on Vandecook Press:

Adjusting the placement. It’s in 8×10 inches so making sure the word prints in center.

Mixing color…. (oh, how I love this…) she requested a blissful blue :)

and here it is:

I love how it came out, simple and gorgeous!
If you are interested in custom print, please let me know :)

There are a few 14th Street Stations in NYC, but this is from the A, C, E line station. I’ve mentioned Tom Otterness’s work before and here are some of his work at the subway stations entitled “Life Underground.”

Isn’t it fun? :)

I hope everyone had a nice long weekend… I know it’s almost over now, but Happy Memorial day! :) It is summer time here already, it has been super nice and warm, I went to the Prospect park everyday besides doing house work and my work, I love that we live so close to the great park.
Speaking of Summer… Randy got me an ice cream maker from Cuisinart and so I made my first ice cream this weekend! It was fun and yummy! I thought for the Memorial Day post, I should share my ice cream making-of :) Enjoy!
First one is (sugar-free) strawberry ice cream. I modified the receipe to make it healthier…
Using fresh strawberries and lemon.

Slice up the strawberries and squeeze the lemon. (Note: I should have sliced them smaller because ice cream maker does not make them smaller)

Add 1/3 cup of Splenda (usually a regular sugar, but that’s gonna make me feel so bad so I used sugar-free here) and mix them together well.

Let it sit for 2 hours….
In a mixing bowl, mix 2 cups of soy milk (love soy milk!), 1/2 cup of heavy cream, 2/3 cup of Splenda and juice from the strawberries. (Note: I modified original recipe of 2 cups of cream, 1 cup of whole milk, 2/3 cup of sugar here… to make it healthy)

Light pink… pretty color :)

and here it is, the ice cream maker!

Turn the maker on and put the mixed milk, let it go for 25-30 min….

getting harder…

Put the strawberries 5 minutes before the ice cream is done…

and yaaaay, my first ice cream ever!!

(see, the strawberries are a bit too chunky…)
It was so good. Soy milk makes this more like sorbet, but it’s perfect for summer and low carolie so I don’t have to feel really bad every time… :)
I also made frozen yogurt. This is really easy and so good, I will be making this all the time, I’m sure…

In a mixing bowl, mix 2 cups of yogurt, 1/4 cup of Splenda, 1/2 cup of soy milk (or regular milk). *you can add chocolate or berries or anything you’d like to make a special frozen yogurt.
and have the maker do its job…..

and after 25-30 minutes later… enjoy frozen yogurt!

I have been wanted to add this in my shop for a long time and finally, I am happy to announce that the new monogram letterpress note cards are added to my shop!
I have all the letters, A to Z, but for now, available letters are S, N, K, T, M, A, F, V in yellow-orange and H, G, B, W, L in pink. If you don’t see your letters, but would like one, I will print them in any colors you’d like so make sure to contact me.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend, everyone!!! (I have a big working weekend ahead of me…)

There are lots of street art in the Meatpacking District besides the type I found. They catch my eye every time, but never had a chance to take photos so here they are. It is so New York, I love it!

Happy Friday morning, everyone!!

When I first saw this at Design*Sponge, I thought it was soo brilliant! I love simple and clever design like this. Made me excited.
It looks like a simple ring, but it leaves impression with message like “marry me” or “always” when you take out the ring. Super cute.
