Snowflake Holiday Gift Tag

I have worked on another snowflake linoleum the other day! This time it’s a little smaller scale – about 2×2 inches. It came out so nice and I made holiday gift tags by using the prints.

Just got done curving the lino:

Used silver ink:

Stamped “To” and “From”

Punched a hole and had red hemp thread go through and here it is!

Happy Friday, everyone! I am traveling back to New York – see you on Monday!

*I am giving away this holiday gift tag for all purchases you make at my etsy store. Happy shopping!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing everyone a happy thanksgiving! I’m wishing world peace also…

Picture is from Olde Abington Country Store. It’s right by our parents’ house and the store is filled with vintage coolness!

gobble gobble.

A vintage peanut butter maker!

Storefront.

I am celebrating it in Boston with my family-in-law. I am very thankful for my family, my husband and being able to do what I love. And I am very thankful that you guys are all here!

Have a great thanksgiving, everyone!!

American Museum of Natural History

Randy and I took Monday afternoon off and went to American Museum of Natural History. There were lots of cool inspirations there, I wished we had more time…

Entrance:

Theodore Roosevelt statue:

I took some photos for my inspirations and here they are. I hope they’ll give you some ideas for your project, too…

They had lots of wild animals diorama and they were all amazing to look at. It was really lively (even though nothing was alive!) and it looked like a real wild life everyday scene. I especially liked colors and patterns on the animals.

Love the colors. Dark line gives nice impact.

The pattern is so unique and caught my eye.

Love the stripes in just one area like this.

Simply beautiful.

Great shapes.

Love the composition. Dynamic.

—-

From here, it’s a dinosaur area!

Half 3D graph. Very cool.

Found letter H in dinosaur’s bone.

Found letter S in dinosaur’s bone.

Glass case with nice typography/description – it was so cool to look at.

wooooo. Isn’t it awesome?

Another cool glass case with typography. Love that you can see through everything with the types in front.

Amazing – what a horn!

Mammoth shot.

Wood Fire Woodie Website Design

I have been working on Wood Fire Woodie‘s logo, card and website this year and I am proud to announce that the website has been up and running for a while now! It was so fun to work on this project just like their fun concept and unique product.

It is a moving catering truck that is designed after American old Woodies that are often times loved by surfers and have surf board on top of the roof – so you’ll see inspirations throughout the site.

If you are in Bay Area and need fun catering service for your party, check out Wood Fire Woodie!

Pat and Mariah have been so great to work with, thank you and I’m wishing you guys the best!!!

Subway Art: 72nd Street

There is not much art in 72nd Street station (B, C) but I saw this arrow and number and caught my eye.

You can see all my Subway Art photos from here.

I’ll be still collecting photos from Subway stations, though, not every station has art… but it’s fun to keep my eyes open for it!

Letterpress Class 7

I can’t believe I only have 3 more classes left… I can say that I am more comfortable using Vandercook Press now, from beginning to the end, I can do everything by myself! (well, I’m sure I have a lot to learn still, but I feel like I got the basic of it)

We can now do whatever we want to print, work on our own projects, so I continued printing my holiday card first and some new prints for my shop.

I took wood type blocks and printed “PEACE” on my holiday card — with everything going on in the world, I really wish peace on earth….

Printed on top of my snowflakes linoleum prints from last week:

Printed some more “Live What You Love” in red and blue Thank you, everyone, the green one is sold out!

Available at my Etsy store.

I ordered 100% cotton paper (means tree-free! I’m so excited about that) and so from here on, I am going to try as eco-friendly as possible with my work and store. These new prints are of course printed on tree-free paper and the paper is made for letterpressing so the impression of the print is more awesome than ever!

My Orange Beautiful Purchases

I wrote about pre-ordering this calendar from Orange Beautiful before, and it finally came! I also ordered “Get Your Sh*t Together” gocco print because my husband says this phrase a lot (haha) and oh my, do they look awesome! They came in this beautiful orange tissue (just like their name!) and it was so nice to open the box and see the beautiful products!

I love their letterpressed card:

The calendar was in a clear box — very nicely packaged together!

It’s right by my computer desk and I can’t wait to turn the page ever month soon!

My print is up on my wall as wel… Time to get my sh*t together! hehe I love it.

Wakamaru

I pass by Uniqlo in New York Soho every day, at least twice a day and I always look in to see if Wakamaru is there – yes, he’s always there and I like him! I have a thing about robot (my favorite is definitely R2-D2) and I’ve seen Asimo in Tokyo (in a glass room) but I like Wakamaru way better! I guess because Wakamaru is designed to be more for family and home and he’s in the store all the time, interacting with people (? kind of… he looks around and looks at you and gives his hand to you etc. He is supposed to talk you back, but I had no luck so far) so I feel like he is friendlier. and I love his yellow body. How cute.

and his docking station is in heart shape!

Yes, he is learning English now. I should talk to him in Japanese next time and see what he reacts!

For Friday fun inspiration – Happy Friday, everyone!!!

Dear Sarah Pro

I love this font called “Dear Sarah Pro” – very nice hand-written warm feel. I love that they have ink stain as a part of the font family, too. It’ll add a cool touch.

At Veer, you can download a PDF file for each font and see how it looks in design, how each alphabet looks etc. and here are some pages for this font. Lovely!
