Cool Fabric

I came across this cool fabric at Etsy. I was looking for black and white pretty pattern fabric for my office space or living room, but I was just randomly browsing through Etsy, and then, look what I found! This was something that I had in my mind, except the skulls, birds, pigs, insects….. I love it!

NY Weather

This week, NYC is pretty warm! If this was San Francisco weather, I would have been like “SO COLD!” but now I appreciate weather in 40s.

I use Dashboard to see what the weather would be like, but for today, Wednesday, there’s the icon I’ve never seen before… what is that?! (See attached) It’s sometimes way off, too, it said “66 degrees” this Monday and I was like “NO WAY!” and I was excited, though, it was all wrong!

Wood Fire Woodie

I finished designing “Wood Fire Woodie” logo last year and now, we are all ready for the website design as they are getting ready for its debut. Pat and Mariah have been wonderful to work with, they are very creative and fun couple and this is very exciting for them as well as for me. I won’t explain too much of what this is here yet… you will see it soon!

Jazz on 34th Street

We went to this Jazz event, “Jazz on 34th Street” – a tribute to legendary jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk at The Grand Ballroom Manhattan Center over the weekend and it was a great show. We both like Monk, his jazz is very distinct and you might first think “is it off?!” but that’s his style and he is absolutely a genius incredible pianist and a composer. The way he played his piano shows how genius he was. It was also his 90th birthday event and his son, T.S. Monk, Ben Riley and the host of the event, Bill Cosby were each talking about him and their memories with him and the event was filled with love and his great music.

Pretty ceiling – the place was more than 100 years old.

MoMA Visit 2

I went to MoMA again on Friday. I had to pick up my ATM card I left last week (oops) at Anthropologie near by so I might as well stopped by and see the other exhibitions I couldn’t get to see last week. I only could see the third floor this time, but it was a gooood third floor!

One of the exhibitions I loved was “50 Years of Helvetica” – the most ubiquitous of all typefaces and sure enough, I’ve used it countless times and I’ve seen it around numerous times. It’s the first typeface that got displayed in MoMA, too, and although the exhibition was pretty small, I was so pleased that I got to see it. There was a film playing and it was a moving collage of Helvetica from ordinary scenes and that was really good.

Meeting with Grace

I met Grace at Design*Sponge over a coffee yesterday. Victoria introduced her to me and it was so great to meet her! She is very successful with her blog and it’s always so inspirational to meet a successful creative people – and she is soo sweet! I feel like I have a new neighborhood friend (she lives in Park Slope also,) which makes me feel happy and relieved.

Macintosh Quadra

I came across this article about the first Apple Macintosh computer goes on sale in 1984 on wired.com and remembered my first Macintosh I owned called Quadra back in 1995. And many many others I’ve used, owned and sold since… and I came across this website called EveryMac.com that has all the Apple products, computer systems, specs, pictures, everything! It’s fun to look at all the “classic” and “vintage” ones as well as the recent ones. Gosh, there are soo many!

Here Hook

I had to get this one. It’s from Rare Device on 7th Avenue – only one block away from my apartment. I heard that they opened a store in San Francisco, too. They have lots of cool and fun stuff.

Subway Art: 8th St.

Subway system in NYC is pretty awesome as you know. I noticed that each station has different unique art and this is from 8th Street Station. (N &R line) I didn’t have much time to look at more because I had to get on the train, but I want to keep looking around some cool arts in the subway stations.

A Surprise Party

My friend Keiko asked me if I wanted to come have dinner and drink with her coworkers after work… I said YES! and went to Typhoon Lounge in East Village. I was told that they were sitting downstairs, so I asked the waitress when I got there and she asked me if I was here for a birthday party, but I was like “No, no, no. I don’t think so…” and there she was, sitting in a BIG table with her friends… it was her birthday party!! I never been to a birthday party not knowing it was a birthday party so I was pretty shocked! A surprise party for me! Happy Birthday, Keiko!! I met lots of people through her, too, that was fun!
